Founded: Tandem was incorporated as a non-profit in
1970, affiliated as a Friends School in 1995.

Program: Tandem Friends is a co-educational college
preparatory day school comprised of a Middle School for
grades 5-8 and an Upper School for grades 9-12, with
core programs designed for specific age levels.
Enrollment: Students represent a diversity of religious,
ethnic, and economic backgrounds. Minority students
comprise 12% of the student body, and 27% of the current
student body receives some form of financial aid.
Faculty/Class Size: Nineteen women and fourteen men
comprise the full-time teaching staff. With 240 students,
the faculty student ratio is 1:7. Class size
ranges from 12-18 students.
Student Activities: Students work together in choral,
theatrical and musical performances, and explore many
visual arts media. Interscholastic sports include soccer,
basketball, volleyball, tennis, lacrosse, field hockey,
cross-country, wrestling, and golf. There is an active Fencing club.
College Placement: Tandem's curriculum meets academic
requirements of all major institutions of higher learning.
The College Counseling Office directs students in their
college searches; individual counseling begins in the
10th grade.
