Diversity at Tandem Friends School

School Commitment to Diversity:

At Tandem Friends, we have a long tradition of supporting diversity and incorporating it in the fabric of the day to day experience in our community.  Whether it's in Kaleidoscope meetings, on the Diversity Committee, in student organizations, in our Advisories, or in the classroom -- our faculty, staff, administrators and students are encouraged to be in open and honest dialogue about issues of religious diversity, socio-economic diversity, ethnic and racial diversity, and so much more!

Kaleidoscope:

Tandem Friends holds school-wide meetings once a month inviting all students, faculty and administrators to participate in ongoing conversations about how best to support students and faculty of a variety of diverse backgrounds, how to ensure a consistently diverse student body and how to raise awareness of the value of human diversity both in our classrooms and beyond. Meetings will be announced in advance during Morning Meeting in both the Middle School and Upper School.

Faculty Diversity Committee:

Twice a month, a small group of faculty meet to discuss issues of diversity at Tandem Friends as they relate to the student experience in our classrooms and our community.  They work to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds are being supported in their academic and social experiences at TFS by providing inservice training for faculty and feedback to the administration.
