Welcome Alums!
Once you've been a part of the Tandem Friends community, you are always a part of the Tandem Friends Community. Our alums are vital to the life of the school, and they feel welcome to return and reconnect. Alums show up for school events, plays, graduation, meeting for worship, and more. Alums frequently stop in for a chat with a favorite teacher. Many alums have returned as parents of Tandem Friends students, adding another generation to this connected community.
Want to keep in touch better? Alumni reunions, held each summer, help classmates, friends and faculty reunite. The Turkey Bowl, held the day after Thanksgiving each year, draws community members back for soccer and fellowship on the pitch.
Look below for updates on alums. Go to Recent Alumni 'Drop-Ins' to see who has shown up on campus lately. Send us photos, video, old pictures of school events and activities, and watch for updates in this Alumni area of the website. And always, make sure we have your current contact information.
Find us on Facebook!!! - Check out the Alumni Facebook sites and become a fan of our Tandem Friends School Facebook site!
Tandem Goes Green
In an effort to be even more green with our communications, we plan to start using email rather than snail mail for certain items, such as reunion invitations, e-newsletters, and more. We want to include more informational updates on our alums and what they are doing, on both our website and in newsletters. Let us hear from you!

We also have a presence on YouTube and on Facebook, with both an organizational Facebook page and two pages that are maintained by alums. You can become a fan or a friend of these sites to receive updates on what's going on at the school and with your classmates.

Interesting Alum Jobs
Summer 2010
We asked some alums with interesting new jobs to share what they're working on.
This just in from Nick Kyger (TFS '06):
'I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill last May with a degree in Computer
Science and have just started working for Credit Suisse, a global
investment bank. I'm currently helping develop software as a member of
their "Technical Analyst" program, which is comprised of recent college
grads working in the more technical areas of the bank - IT, Software
Development, etc. We started work last week (July 19th) after a week of
training in New York, and so far I'm really enjoying both the type of
work and the atmosphere of the office. One of the things I like most
about the program is collaborating with so many people close to my own
age, including some from UNC who I've known for a while. It's always
difficult settling into a new job, but having a group of peers who are
in the same boat helps a lot. I'm very thankful to both UNC and
Tandem, and for all the professors who've helped me along the way!'
This just in from Dan Myers (TFS -07):
'I'm currently a rising senior at Dickinson College where I'm an
environmental studies major. For the past two months I have been
interning in the office of Al and Tipper Gore in Nashville, TN where I
work for Kalee Kreider, Mr. Gore's chief spokeswoman and environmental
adviser. After releasing An Inconvenient Truth in 2007, Mr. Gore has
been traveling the world giving his now famous slideshow and training
others to do so as well. This summer, my job has been to update and vet
the slideshow as well as suggest ideas for new slides. To accomplish
this, I have researched every slide in the show (over 540), sought
advice from some of the world's foremost climate scientists and
diligently surveyed recently scientific papers. It's been a truly
fascinating summer and I hope to continue this type of work in the
future.'

Alum's Band to Perform at Newport Folk Festival
July 12, 2010
Congratulations
to Suz Slezak (TFS '99) and The David Wax Museum
for winning that last
spot at the historic Newport Folk Festival. They will be playing in the
company of greats like John Prine, Levon Helm and Andrew Bird -
performing August 1. The band was chosen from 150 applicants vying for
the last performance spot. Three bands were selected, then a public
voting period opened up. The band thanks their many devoted fans for
ensuring their berth in this famous music festival held in Newport,
Rhode Island every summer since 1959. The festival introduced Bob Dylan
and Joan Baez, and has hosted hundreds of other well-known artists,
including Nanci Griffith, Alison Krauss, and Johnny Cash.
