Citation Guidelines

Tandem Friends School follows the citation guidelines of the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). Students should use the citation guidelines recommended by their teacher.  The EasyBib software allows you to compose bibliographies online in MLA format.

Cornell University Library: How to Prepare an Annotated Bibliography

Creating accurate bibliographic citations begins at the note-taking stage of your research. Although citation guidelines vary, there are some standard elements to record:

-Author

-Title

-Volume or issue number of article

-Publisher

-Place and date of publication

-Page numbers for article

For electronic sources you will also need to record:

-Date you accessed the site

-URL

Footnotes, endnotes, parenthetical notes, bibliographies, and works cited lists give your readers the information they need to find your source material. They identify and acknowledge all works used to produce your report. You must identify all of your sources, including images. Regardless of your intent, failure to acknowledge your use of another person's work constitutes plagiarism.

Word Wizardry by Logophilus, aka Brett, aka Chiron

At this point in time Brett is working hard on finishing up a global vocabulary business focusing on the Greek and Latin roots of GRE vocabulary.  In the meantime, he is continuing to write his SAT English vocabulary blog; his latest entry discussed President Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, and the etymology and SAT related derivatives of the words "peace" and "President."  He updates his blog on a semi-monthly basis.
