November 17-21, 2025

It was a lovely week at Tandem, full of joy, community, and the vibrant yellow of the gingko’s leaves, which will soon plummet down like rainfall. The cold seemed a bit more present. Parents had plenty of activities to choose from, with two college events, a financial aid drop-in, and a Parent Community brainstorming session this morning. Thanks to all who attended. There was another clothing swap event during lunch.

5th graders enjoyed a fun movie night on campus last Friday night. Middle Schoolers went wild for the amazing 8th grade Musical Theatre class production of Disney’s High School Musical, Jr. yesterday. You don't want to miss their wonderful work - tonight and tomorrow night at 7pm. Details, including a ticket reservation link, are provided below. The Middle School Debate Team competed in their first event???  - see details below. 6th graders dropped eggs from a balcony in a physics experiment. Our Big and Little Badgers (Upper Schoolers and 7th graders) had fun yesterday in a trivia scavenger hunt, as they raced from teacher to staff member to find out fun facts like who played with a wombat in Australia, who played golf with Larry David, who swam with sea lions off the Galapagos Islands, or who was in charge of an event working with the Secret Service and a former First Lady. Middle Schoolers enjoyed their second Middle School Community Time clubs today.

In the Upper School, our 50 Model UN students competed in their first conference last weekend, right here at UVA. Some students and faculty/staff joined Foundations Art students in celebrating Color Week to solidify learning in their color scheme printing projects, dressing in various color wheel schemes. 9th graders are embarking on a Greek Government Summit. 10th graders are readying themselves for the trial of Dr. Frankenstein and working on their Socratic Seminars. 11th grade American Lit students are reading essays like 'Civil Disobedience.' Senior Comp students are reading The Kite Runner. Today’s Community Time for the Upper School was an Open Meeting. Our varsity basketball teams opened up their seasons with some great home games.
