Students are converting between mixed and improper fractions as well as adding/subtracting fractions in Math 7. They were given cards that are similar to dominoes where the face has two parts: the top half had a visual representation of a fraction and the bottom a numerical fraction. The entire class goal was to match up the bottom numerical fraction to someone's visual representation of a fraction. This ended up with a linear connection of cards. After, they used the cards to create addition and subtraction problems on an erasable pocket that had fill-in-the-blank fraction placement and an area to show their work. After they were done with the cards, they came up with their own fractions to convert from improper to mixed and vice versa. Some students began an algebraic dominoes game to prepare for our solving unit.
