Tandem Friends School is a co-educational, independent day school for grades 5-12 with a diverse enrollment of 224 students. The school is located on a 31-acre campus in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was founded as The Tandem School in 1970, and was affiliated as a Quaker (Friends) school in 1995.

Front Office Manager/Admissions Assistant (full time)
The Front Office Manager/Admissions Assistant is the public face of the School, usually the first person that students, families, and visitors meet when they enter the School. The Front Office Manager’s job is to cheerfully and tactfully welcome all visitors, politely and competently answer their questions, and efficiently direct them to the appropriate person or department. As Admissions Assistant, this person will assist the Director of Admissions in recruitment activities, database management, and general administrative help. In addition, the Front Office Manager assists the Business Office in the day-to-day running of the staff mail room, staff break room, and other jobs that keep the office running smoothly.  The Front Office Manager also functions as the de facto School nurse, administering medications as directed by parents and administering first aid for minor injuries.
Qualifications required:
  • Cheerful demeanor and welcoming personality
  • Tactfulness, discretion, patience, and compassion
  • 1-2 year’s prior experience in a front-line office position or in a customer service related job
  • Excellent email and phone etiquette
  • Ability to multi-task and to handle frequent interruptions without become flustered
  • Basic clerical skills and knowledge of office practices and procedures that involve the operation of standard office equipment such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines, mailing machines, and associated equipment
  • Literate in Microsoft Office suite applications
