8th Graders 'Revolt' while Studying Russian Revolution
Carolyn Warhaftig
After reading Animal Farm and discussing the Russian Revolution, 8th graders staged a revolution of their own: they took over Tandem. In small groups, students were tasked with making any changes they saw necessary to our core principles, course offerings, infrastructure, and more. While many students dreamed of new football stadiums and the hiring of Michelin star chefs, they quickly learned the challenges and limitations of budgets as well as finding common ground with their group mates.
