5th Graders Take on Plant and Animal Life

The 5th grade, led by science teacher Cindy Cartwright, just started their study of the Kingdom Plantae. Each young scientist chose a tree on campus that they will sketch and research throughout the year. They are also experimenting on soil samples and celery with surprising results. Check out these photos of their first session observing their trees.

5th graders have also been identifying other living things they are finding on campus. They identified some fungi, the Yellow Jacket Hoverfly (actually in the fly family), and Finn and Cindy identified a Leopard Slug. They are becoming passionate observers of nature as they explore the campus.
