Spanish Students Explore Hispanic Heritage Month with Unique Projects

This week, Upper School Spanish 2 students in Sonia Brandon's class listened to music from Lido Pimienta, a Colombian Canadian musician. They looked at some of Lido's social media posts about how Hispanic Heritage Month makes her feel. Students then explored her AfroLatinX roots and learned the differences between LatinX and Hispanic - there was much engaged discussion. They plan to continue their thoughtful exploration of the topic.

In the Middle School, 5th grade Spanish class worked on an art project with art teacher Julia Sapir and Spanish teacher Victoria Bryant to learn about traditional Panamanian molas. They used that study to explore colors and types of animals in Spanish as well. Check out some of the photos of their work.
