Middle Schoolers Attend Youth Climate Strike

A handful of Tandem Friends Middle School students spent September 24 on the downtown mall, participating in this year's Youth Climate Strike. According to the parent who took them, it was a great experience. The students "enjoyed partaking in this moment of collective citizenship activism, proudly displayed their signs as they respectfully marched through the downtown mall, engaged with peers from other schools, learned a bit about Charlottesville's Climate Action Plan, and took turns speaking through a bullhorn about the specific demands on City Council members to make progress on it." Local TV station CBS-19 was on hand and shot some footage of our students with their signs as part of their report. Check it out here. The students are eager to participate in the next youth "climate strike" with even more Tandem students, and plan to become active in our Tandem Earth club.
