Tandem Drama Teachers Work Together at Live Arts

Tandem drama teachers Perry Medlin (Upper School) and Edwina Herring (Middle School) have been spending plenty of time together for the last few months, on campus and off, working to bring theatre to our community and to the local community at large. In addition to bringing vibrant drama classes and productions to Tandem, the two paired up to direct and assistant direct the Live Arts production of the comedy The Legend of Georgia McBride, opening tonight and running through March 27. Perry has served as the show's Director and Edwina as the show's Assistant Director. The play tells the story of a young Elvis impersonator who is desperately trying to find a new act and tries to become a drag queen to make a living. The show also serves as this season's Live Arts Mentor/Apprentice Program, which pairs high school theater students with experienced designers and production team members during the entire show. Six local students worked on this show, which requires 50 costumes, complicated sets, and lots of lighting and sound technology. Here at Tandem, Perry is working on the Upper School production of Our Town and Edwina is rehearsing the 6th graders in The Wizard of Oz. It's a busy, drama-filled life!
