Making Visible Portrait Project Yields Amazing Student Work

Students in Susan Brodie's Art I-V classes have been working on the Making Visible Portrait Project. For some it is the first pencil drawing they have done and for the vast majority it is the first portrait they have ever drawn. The mission of the Making Visible Portrait Project states: "Artists often create art that makes things and people visible that are otherwise unseen. Our portrait project is to make visible those Americans who have made incredible contributions to our country and society (in the sciences, math, literature, and arts) and yet have not been given the credit they deserve because of systemic racism. These portraits will help make individuals known and seen and we will celebrate them in our community."

The amazing portraits our students drew remained on display in the Blue Room for several weeks - check out some in this post and check out all of them in a slideshow here.
