The Tandem Friends 8th grade presents Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical Into the Woods November 15 through 18 in the Community Hall at Tandem Friends School. Based on the plots of several fairy tales, the musical explores the community and the consequences of each characters' wishes and quests. The main characters include Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and more, and the plot is tied together by a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, the witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other characters along their numerous journeys 'into the woods' to complete their quests. The musical won seven Tony awards, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical.
Tandem's production is directed by Lydia Horan, choreographed by Perry Medlin and music directed by Tara Scott. The show has also been double cast; one cast will perform Thursday and Saturday shows, and one will perform on Friday and Sunday. If you know a cast member, ask them what roles they are playing in the various performances.
