This week, 5th and 6th graders performed some fun teamwork/bonding activities together in Advisory. In one, they worked in teams of three to 'rescue' Sam the gummy worm from a capsized 'boat.' They had to get him out of the water, put a life preserver (gummy ring) on him, and get him back in his boat using only paper clips. The task encouraged valuable creative thinking and teamwork skills and...Sam survived. In another task, advisory teams tackled a maze. Students had to follow a specific pattern through a checkerboard. Advisories had to work together to remember the pattern and successfully navigate through the maze.
