Our third week was a steamy, busy week of classes that included our first community pancakes of the year, the Parent & Guardian Community opening get together, school photo retakes, the first college visits (UVA and Wake Forest), the final round of parent meetings by grade, Upper School play auditions, the start of some club activity, and more. This hot spell put an end to many sports practices and games - let's hope for cooler weather next week. Many thanks to all of the parents who have been on campus for meetings and pancakes - we love having you present here with us and hope to see you for next Thursday’s Back-to-School Night!
In the Middle School, 5th graders are learning about pollinators. 6th grade math students are learning about exponents, perimeter and area. 7th graders are into integers and their summer reading. 8th graders are writing summer reading profiles. In Advisory, 7th and 8th graders discussed integrity.
In the Upper School, 9th graders are diving into The Odyssey while 10th graders discuss Never Let Me Go. Juniors are writing reaction papers to their summer reading. Upper School students held a Club Fair today to explore various club options (see details below). In Advisory, students have been discussing learning and research styles.
Don’t forget - no school on Monday - enjoy the long weekend and
