While 9th-11th graders headed off campus for three days of outdoor and experiential education and bonding, our Class of 2024 worked all week on Senior Week activities led by the College Counseling Office and English teacher Tucker Winter. Goals for the week were to complete their Common Applications, launch their senior projects including completing their formal proposals, and living into their unique roles as senior leaders at Tandem. They spent time at the Charlottesville Friends Meetinghouse thinking about their experience as Friends School student leaders, had a meetup with several college admissions folks, they spent a day working like professionals in ballroom space at the Quirk Hotel, they enjoyed de-stressing with counselors Chloe and Monica, grounding with yoga practice guided by parent Bridget Baylin, trading advice and playing games with Tandem 5th graders, and enjoying a special campus campout including s'mores and a zany open mic. Friday morning found them watching their 'Senior Sunrise' together (they will have a Senior Sunset at year's end). What fun to find them eating breakfast by the campfire as we arrived. While seniors did lots of hard work to meet their application and project goals, they also had plenty of fun. See details on their fun with the 5th grade in another article.
