Summer Campus Projects and Preparation Pay Off in First Week

This summer on campus, there were a few special projects in addition to the day-to-day readying of the campus for another year. In the front lobby of the Main Building, a health office was built, stocked and decorated to give sick students a private space for evaluation, observation and rest as they wait for parent pickup. In the Middle School, the stairs leading to the top floor of the Middle School were replaced and the no-longer-used storage closet attached to the back of Porter was removed, providing a larger space outside that classroom. Students are already enjoying the new Gaga pit that now sits near the swingset and four-square court. Faculty and staff have been working extra hard for the last few weeks to put final touches on classroom and campus spaces to have them ready and looking good for this first week of school. Whether it was painting or decorating walls, waxing floors, arranging desks, putting out textbooks, creating bulletin boards, sitting through planning meetings, mowing, weeding and trimming around campus, setting up Chromebooks for distribution, restocking the cafe, lining the fields and hanging up uniforms, or practicing emergency procedures and training (check out some photos of faculty fire extinguisher refresher training), everyone participated in many ways to make this first week run smoothly and to welcome back our students to a great new academic year.
