Middle School Spanish Activities

Victoria Bryant
In Middle School Spanish, 7th graders explored the topic of the role of technology in our lives as well as the meaning behind Bad Bunny’s message of 'Debí tirar más fotos' in a short film about the importance of memories through stories and images for remembering one’s roots. Kai’s mom, Tiffany, joined us for a class to share what her experience has been as someone from Philadelphia with Puerto Rican heritage. We then danced salsa to her favorite Bad Bunny Song.

In 5th grade Spanish, we wrapped up the quarter by making up an original class song in Spanish using the phrase “Yo necesito” - I need - and through call and response as well as the use of percussive instruments we talked about chocolate, friends, and whatever else students shared as important in their lives.

In 8th grade Spanish, guest speaker and artist from Spain, Chicho Lorenzo, joined us for conversation about language, inspiration, the arts, and the joys of connecting through words and visuals.
