Music Teacher's Recording Project Takes Off

Tandem music teacher Mark Goldstein, when we first went into isolation back in March, found himself reaching back for an old musical friend - the Grateful Dead. When he discovered how much he missed the music, and how much his young kids enjoyed hearing it, an idea formed that grew into an all-summer commitment. He decided to record one Grateful Dead song a day and post them to YouTube, calling it the Dead-a-Day project. When they're all up there it will be 85 songs, many of which include online collaborations with other local artists (he even collaborated with Tandem alums William Waugh and Ben Larsen (TFS '19), who helped him 'funk up' a version of Shakedown Street). Read what Mark wrote about his project, including links and liner notes about some favorite songs, here. It's a great read about a wonderful musical journey Mark hopes to continue. Catch all of the Dead-a-Day recordings here.
