  • Week #5: Varsity Soccer and Volleyball Win Close Contests with WCDS

    Boys Varsity Soccer

Coming off an exciting victory on the road in which the Badgers scored a season high six goals, Tandem was aggressive as soon as the first whistle blew. Barely any time had come off of the clock when Jack got all the way into the box, firing an early shot and testing the opposing goalie. On the rare occasion that Wakefield was able to work the ball towards Tandem's defense, Owen met their strikers head on. He cleared the ball away with laser-like precision, firing it back to the offense, eliminating any chances WCDS might have had. As the half went on, Owen moved the defensive line up even farther, as he worked closely with Henry, Seamus, Jace, Eli and Luca to establish Tandem's defensive shape.

  • Week #5: The Classiest Photo Finish You'll Ever See

    Dave Levy, Athletic Director
    Boys Varsity Cross Country

A photo finish is a noun defined as "a close finish of a race in which the winner is identifiable only from a photograph taken as the competitors cross the line."  If someone were to glance at the photo finish of the meet this afternoon, the winner is not what they would notice.  Instead, it would be four runners, each holding up the number one with their fingers, who intentionally crossed the line at the exact same time.  The photo encapsulated a moment - Miles, Hayes and Jack representing Tandem alongside a runner from RMA - all finishing together.  For the opponent, it was the opportunity of a lifetime to run with three of the top runners in the state of Virginia.  For Tandem it showed an appreciation for the sport of running - and for our values - as the Badgers were at their best today on and off the course.

  • Week #4 - Badgers Excel at the Inaugural Monticello Mountain Meet!

Just a day ago, the Tandem Badgers took off and embarked on their third off-campus trail run of the season. They had already logged plenty of miles on the fields of the beautiful Tandem campus, building confidence as they increased their endurance. Each workout has been challenging - full of steep hills and challenging intervals. Regardless of the difficulty, this group of Badgers has stepped up, improving each day and supporting each other throughout the process!

  • Varsity Basketball Players Excel in Richmond Preseason Showcase

Last weekend, our Varsity Boys Basketball players (those not playing a fall sport) competed in Richmond in the Commonwealth Basketball Group's fall showcase series as part of their preseason practice and prep for the upcoming season. They played four games (winning 3 and losing 1) and averaged 76 points a game against some serious high school competition. Way to go, Badgers! Sounds like a great season might be just around the corner.
  • Week #4: Badgers Place Two Runners in the Top Ten Among 70 Teams at Pole Green Classic!

    Dave Levy, Athletic Director
2024 was an excellent Cross Country season for Dhruvi, but she's a different runner this season. She's 2025 Dhruvi, and she has bigger goals for this season. "I want to break 30:00 and qualify for GPAC Championships," she mentioned on a run last week, a shared goal with her Co-Captain, Avery. Dhruvi has been working closely with Avery, whose work ethic is only matched by her leadership ability. For this duo to run under 30:00, they would need run around 9:45 per mile. Last week, at the Tandem Two Mile, Dhruvi ran 18:34 - 9:17 per mile.  Avery ran 16:40 - 8:20 per mile. Today, at the Pole Green Invitational, running among 70 other teams, Dhruvi and Avery each ran an even faster pace than last week - despite running a longer distance on a far more difficult course.
