It was an exciting week at Tandem Friends on many levels. Our Varsity XC team ran well at the Pole Green Classic on Saturday, with another individual title for senior Hayes. Middle School teams hosted two home games this week. Our Upper School students embarked on Experience Days adventures in many directions. 9th graders trekked to Balsam, NC for outdoor adventure and a dip into Native American and mountain culture history there. 10th graders spent their days in Washington, DC at museums and with Friends Place on Capitol Hill. Juniors travelled to Philadelphia to immerse themselves in Quaker and US history and culture. Our seniors spent a productive week working on college applications and senior project startup, a day of community service, then ended the week with an on-campus campout and Senior Sunrise. Read more about Experience Days activities by grade below, with links to more photos. 5th and 6th graders shared in a fun lunch with the seniors during which they gave each other advice (click here or read more below to check out the advice shared). Tired but happy Upper Schoolers have been returning throughout the day - be sure to ask them about their experiences.
Middle Schoolers enjoyed being the only students on campus, playing lunchtime games all over the campus. The MS Cross Country team ran in their first meet, with strong performances from everyone despite a storm delay. 5th graders are creating Hispanic country posters. 6th graders are comparing climates. 7th graders are researching and writing about the first Americans/tribes. 8th graders are studying ocean currents. 5th and 6th graders spent some time talking about bullying and 7th and 8th graders met to talk about next week’s Experience Days.
