Week #8 - Badgers Push Monticello to the Brink!

The Badgers trailed 13-4 when Aofie made her way to the service line. With a lot of power and a sharp angle, Aofie smashed a serve into Monticello's back row. It came in so fast, the opponent could barely get a fingertip on the ball. It was the first of three consecutive aces for Aofie, followed up by two from Catriona. After Ellia's back to back powerful overhead serves, the Badgers cut the lead to just one point, 18-17. This kind of resilience characterized Tandem's day - massively outscoring their output from a week ago on the road against the same opponent.
In the first set, Ginger made a beautiful pass to Catriona who set Emory for a big swing. With Kaylee protecting the sideline, the Badgers were on the board! Ellia had a number of big serves, and also passed the ball to Catriona who set Sophie for a big swing on the left side. Other highlights included an ace for Catriona and Emory's pass to Ellia for a big overhand smash!
 
The second set opened with a kill from Maeve, getting the scoring going for Tandem. Marilyn was excellent in the front row, Maeve proved to be a terrific setter, and Nieve got a strong hit from her position on the left side of the court - and a free ball kill! Congratulations to the Badgers, scoring 18 points in each set, and continuing to improve. The Badgers scored ten more points today than last week at Monticello!
 
It's a busy week for the team - they take on Covenant tomorrow at 4pm in the Badger Den (followed by Varsity Senior Night at 5:15). On Thursday, the JV squad plays at CHS at 4:45.
