Week #10 - Strong Effort for JV Badgers Against NCS
Electric all season, Sophie opened the game with an ace. Hit hard and rotating with backspin, the NCS back line scrambled to return it. Sophie's serve percentage has been elite - she averages four aces per match. The Badgers led early - Ellia had an excellent dig - knocking the ball back off the net to Emory who drilled it into the open space on the other side of the court. Her serve is vicious, too! The Badgers led 4-2 early, with Ginger commanding the middle, Kaylee showing off her consistent serve and court vision, and Catriona's soft hands as a setter.
In the second set, Catriona set Nieve up for a big time hit! Moments later, off a set from Sophie, Marilyn mashed the ball into the center of the floor, just over the NCS blockers. Sophie was everywhere - she would serve the ball and then dig out the return on the other side of the floor - the hustle was electric! Aofie was excellent - both at the net - and at the service line.
Nieve got low - digging the ball off the floor, while Maeve was excellent at the net. On some occasions, Maeve set Emory for big hits. On others, Maeve guided the ball over the net on two, confusing the opposition. She had a great serve and the Badgers rallied late! Sophie had an ace late in the set, as did Catriona!
The Badgers scored five more points in the second set than the first! They return to action on Thursday for their final game of the season - at Miller - at 4:30. Varsity will follow at 5:30.
