Week #9 - Big Week for MS Soccer and Volleyball

Dave Levy, Athletic Director
MS Boys Soccer - Defensively, the Middle School Boys Soccer team had an incredible start to their game on the road at Saint Anne's on Wednesday. Gabriel was everywhere, beating opponents to the ball, while Silas worked hard on the back end. Bo and Elias forced the ball wide, and Eli had several nice tackles to gain possession. Floyd was incredible in goal - several excellent saves! Will's speed was incredible, darting across the field, and erasing scoring opportunities for the other side. He earned a free kick, sending the ball deep to Trenton. On the other end, Casey, Will and Eric worked together defensively, Eric bolting in at full speed to tackle the ball away.

Saint Anne's had an early goal, but Tandem responded with Eli and Trenton making a big push. Jonathan got it started, tackling the ball out of the box and sending it ahead to Yosi. Late in the game, the Badgers had a breakaway and Silas took a powerful shot, resulting in a Tandem corner.

MS Girls Volleyball - Loud and enthusiastic, the Middle School Girls Volleyball Badgers arrived in the gym ready to play. The team organized themselves into hitting lines and worked on their serves, just as they have been in practice. Early in the first set, Willa set Rory for a big hit! With Rory at the service line, the Badgers took an early 7-2 lead, resulting in a Peabody timeout. On the next rally, Annie made an excellent pass to Rory who returned the favor as Willa had a big hit!
Willa and Isla both had aces, and the Badgers led 12-9 as Hattie took the ball to the service line. Valentina provided some positive energy as the set went back and forth, and the game tied at 16. Olivia's strong defense kept a number of rallies alive, but when it was 22-22, Hattie had the set winning volley. The Badgers took the first set 25-22.

In the second set, Dania was on fire with her serves! Livia had an excellent return on the line, as Coach Tori yelled "way to be ready!" Peabody went on a big service run, but Lucy and Willa worked together to flip the momentum. Vex entered in the middle of the set, making several strong passes, while Maddie worked with Annie to get the serve back to Tandem. The Badgers rallied from 16-7 down to win the set, with Annie smashing her serves in all directions - impossible to return!

In the final set, the Badgers got a service streak from Dania! Mae had an ace and Sage had a pass, working closely with Teagan, Nora and Pia!

Special thanks to Elle, who took over as the referee this afternoon! Great job, Elle!
