  Week #10 - Exciting Volleyball Double Header

  Middle School Volleyball - A huge thank you to Kimberly Sheffield for organizing our “Pack the Gym in Pink” night! It was wonderful to see all of the families and friends in pink, and the players wearing bows in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Badgers played at a high level from the very beginning, with Olivia at the service line. Annie impressed us all with her accurate passing, finding her teammates easily no matter how hard the ball was hit. The first set featured massive hits from Rory, who also smashed five consecutive jump serves to give Tandem an early lead. Isla was effective at the net, getting great sets from Willa, while Dania's passing was on point. It was Hattie whose beautiful free ball kill and serving closed out the set, and the Badgers won the first stanza 25-19.

  
  Lucy started the second set in the middle, and she was everywhere. Dania had an excellent pass, and Vex and Livia each kept rallies alive. The Badgers energy was on point this afternoon, and as new players entered during the second set, the team continued their success. Kenley, Maddie and Juno both played the front row, while Pearl and Teagan set up in the back. Waldorf took the second set 25-22, and there were lots of exciting rallies. That set up quite the tie-breaker!

  Week #10 - Badgers Bring Home Hardware Against the Best in the United States

  Varsity Boys Cross Country - For the last three years, the class of 2027 has created a special team culture for our Cross Country program. The team has grown dramatically, and their success has been unparalleled, dominating VISAA Cross Country and earning three consecutive state championships. Each of those victorious teams had strong senior leaders, and after the team graduated several of our top 5 scoring runners after the 2025 season, Jack showed deep insight as a leader himself: he fully understood the importance of his role as the team's #5 runner - he is essential to our team success.

  
  When Tandem came to Pole Green Park a month ago, the Badgers had many strong performances, but did not have our full scoring five, resulting in a higher tally than usual. VISAA Division III rival Veritas took note, hoping that the 2026 season would be their turn to shine. Today, Jack reminded Veritas, and the entire state of Virginia, and athletes from all over the United States including Washington, California and Oregon, who the Tandem Badgers are!

• Week #10 - Varsity Boys Soccer Gives Excellent Effort on Small Field

  Varsity Boys Soccer - After their muddy 5-1 victory on Tuesday, the Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted Miller on Friday afternoon - on a small field - which put their defense to the test. Levie, now in his second season as the starting goalie, showed incredible maturity - he was constantly communicating instructions to his defense, and to his strikers, who he set up for success on the other end! In front of the net, Luke was relentless, taking away angles, and tackling the ball from opposing strikers. After Luke forced the a goal kick, Levie fired the ball ahead to Seth who worked closely with Van and had a scoring chance off a header in the both.

   

  Miller scored early, but Shaan flipped the field with amazing footwork, able to make a turn and set up Aven and Otis on the outside. Moments later, Levi earned a free kick, passing over to Shaan who found Seth for a great shot! On the other end, Mason and Seamus were strong and physical defensively.

  Week #10: Tandem Dominates Senior Day Meet at Darden Towe!

  Varsity Boys Cross Country - Only three days ago, the Badgers traveled to the Virginia Showcase, one of the largest meets in the country.  The team ran at an elite level, and only seventy-two hours later, got right back on the line to compete in Tandem's first Mid-Week Invitational at Darden Towe Park. That quick turnaround did not bother Andrew, who earned a PR for the second meet in a row! Andrew hit the mile mark in a blazing 6:54, and held that aggressive pace, dropping ONE MINUTE off his previous best. His time of 22:49 is a tribute to all of the hard work Andrew has put in this season!

   

  Making his season debut, Jon Derby returned to the course where he ran his best race a season ago, in a time of 32:03. Jon has been training hard this season, and has taken photos at a lot of our meets. Today, he traded his camera for a bib, and set PR's throughout the race. His first mile - 7:45 - is the fastest he's run this season, which led him to a 5K time of 27:43 - his first time under 30:00! Jon dropped FIVE MINUTES off of his previous best, and breaking 30:00 moves him into a new category altogether!

  Week #9 - Cross Country Competes in Prestigious VA Showcase Meet Tomorrow

  Tandem's Varsity Cross Country team and many of its members have had an incredible season already. Tomorrow, they will compete in the VA Showcase, the largest and most competitive meet on the east coast with over 350 teams, including the number one ranked team in the nation, Christ School from Asheville, NC. If you're not doing anything tomorrow morning at 9:00am or in the afternoon between 3:00-4:00pm (or even if you are), you can tune in to their events via this link to the VA XC Showcase Meet livestream. 

   

  Senior Hayes, undefeated this season, will compete individually in the invitation-only Showcase Division at 9:00am against some of the best runners in the country. This will be the first time all season that he's had major competition so we can't wait to see how fast he runs and if he can break his own 5K school record of 15:20. The girls team races at 3:00pm and the boys team races at 3:30pm. These races will also be livestreamed. Let's all go online and cheer on our Badgers!
