Week #21 - Thrilling MS Double Header on the Road!

MS Girls Basketball - When we played Grymes in December, the Badgers scored just eight points. Today, Tandem scored nine... in the first quarter! Executing beautifully off the of the opening tip, Sam batted the ball ahead to Hadley, who scored a smooth right-handed lay-up to give Tandem an early lead. Wasting no time, Zoey deflected the inbounds pass, which found its way to Hadley yet again. She scored another basket, and Grymes called timeout.

Making her first start of the season, Cora was a force inside. She commanded her spot on the block, rebounding and throwing great outlet passes. Most notably, she had a beautiful block to block assist to Zuri! After Grymes scored a second quarter three pointer, Hadley immediately came down and matched it, showing off her range from the perimeter!
Yesterday in practice, Cypress was at her absolute best. She took the ball into the paint, fearless, and scored! Today she brought the same intensity level, attacking the basket on offense and protecting the ball! She set up Zuri for a key basket, and the Badgers led 15-9 at the half!

In the second half, Sam took our offense to another level. Passing and cutting, she got the ball in the paint, scored a key bucket, and also earned a trip to the foul line. Zoey had a number of high quality shots, and she went to the charity stripe, too - making both of her shots! Zoey had four points in the third quarter, and her defense was relentless - the combination of Sam and Zoey at the top of the key was very effective. They had countless deflections and steals!

Sam also had a beautiful drive in the fourth. The defense collapsed on her and she passed it to Sunrise who turned and shot it - just as we practiced yesterday! Well done, Sunrise! The interior presence of Sunrise and Zuri in the fourth quarter was fantastic; Zuri had four points and provided an outlet for her teammates. She also had, for the seventh game in a row, a double digit rebounding effort!

With about 2:00 to go, Hattie took over the point guard duties. She's been handling the ball effectively lately, and she found Cora open on the block! Additionally, Hattie dove on the floor to force a jump ball! The Badgers earned an exciting win, 24-16, our fourth victory in a row! The locker room was buzzing afterward, as the 8th graders sang the praises of our 6th and 7th graders! I am so proud of this team and the hard work they have put in! We have practice tomorrow, and return to game action Tuesday at home against Peabody at 5:00.

MS Boys Basketball - Down 12-3 late in the first quarter, the Badgers were aggressive in the second. Trenton hit a three to get the scoring going! The next time down, Aven found Isaiah who showed off a beautiful pump and clear move, getting his defender in the air and going to the rim. Kai scored off a baseline in bounds play, and earned a trip to the line, and all the sudden the score was 12-9! The Badgers were amazing defensively - they held Grymes scoreless in the second!

In the second half, Tandem attacked the Gyrmes 3-2 zone out of the high post. Jayceon was aggressive, earning three separate trips to the line, finishing with seven points. While Grymes had some solid shooters, Hatcher and Landon worked to keep the score within two possessions for the entirety of the third quarter. A lot of this was because of our defense, most notably Will who was perfectly positioned and took a CHARGE! On the next possession, Trenton used that momentum and hit a big time three!

In the fourth, Eli had a huge steal, and pushed the pace, sending the ball ahead to Ryan. Not afraid to shoot, Ryan provided great spacing on the perimeter. In the paint, it was Gabriel getting a ton of rebounds, working with Elias to provide a strong front court presence! Odin also came away with a fourth quarter rebound!

The Badgers had two explosive quarters, scoring 9 in the first and 8 in the third! The team continues to show off great offensive prowess, and has worked incredibly hard in practice! Well done, MS Boys! The team practices tomorrow and returns to game action on Tuesday vs Peabody at Tandem at 4:00.

Shout out to our Varsity Girls - big win at Foxcroft today 27-20, and to the Varsity Boys, winning 74-61 at Regents!
