It was an unpredictably shorter week at Tandem to follow up our restful fall breaks. Monday was a Professional Development day for staff and a day off for students. Tuesday’s predictions of an icy morning led to a delayed start and the cancellation of an Admissions Information Session (now rescheduled for December 9). The cold weather did not affect community generosity on our GivingTuesday, however, which helped us meet a generous matching gift. We had two full school days on Wednesday and Thursday, and then the weather threw us another curve ball that led to today’s snow day cancellation of school and our popular Pancake Friday. We hope everyone got to enjoy delicious, fluffy pancakes at home while wearing fluffy slippers and watching the fluffy snow fall.
Our 5th graders are hard at work on their Fractured Fairy Tales production, coming next Friday. 6th graders are mastering fractions and learning about Christianity. 7th graders are reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. 8th graders are studying World War I. There was a great Middle School basketball double header last night - read more about it below.
In the Upper School, 9th graders are well into their Civilization interdisciplinary project. Our 10th graders held their Philosophy Coffeehouse on Thursday in the Blue Room - see details and photos below. Juniors are studying the Transcendentalists in American Literature. Seniors have met their December 1 college application deadlines and are putting important end-of-semester touches on their Senior Projects. The boys JV and varsity basketball teams played a great double header at Miller - see details below.
