September 13-19, 2025

It was a sometimes hot, sometimes cool, occasionally wet week at Tandem Friends, but that just kept things interesting as fall approaches. After two relatively ‘normal’ days on campus with the whole community, our Middle School students then enjoyed their three Experience Days of adventures. The 8th grade ventured to a 4H camp in Jamestown, 7th graders explored Richmond from top to bottom, and 5th and 6th graders bonded through on-campus activities with Camp Holiday Trails, creative cardboard arcade fun, and a painting service project at IX Art Park. More details about each grade's activities are provided in the This Week in Review section below.

Upper Schoolers enjoyed having the campus mostly to themselves for a few days as they got back into the academic routine after their Experience Days. We held our first Admissions Information Session of the year with the help of our amazing student ambassadors. Rehearsals for The Great Gatsby began. There were six visits from college representatives, including a virtual visit with small Quaker school Earlham College in Indiana. Upper Schoolers spent today's Community Time in home groups talking about kindness, and in particular, inclusivity. The library and several bulletin boards on campus are sharing displays for Hispanic Heritage Month (see some photos below). Sports games and practices got back on track, with Varsity Boys Soccer and Varsity Volleyball both defeating Wakefield Country Day School at home, and a great Varsity XC showing at the first GPAC meet that ended in an amazing photo finish - see sports details below.

We hope to see all of our parents at next Thursday’s Back-to-School Night! And don’t forget there is no school on Tuesday.
