Week #18 - Exciting MS Double Header in the Den!

Dave Levy, Athletic Director
Middle School Boys Basketball

Down 6-0 early in the game, Trenton changed the momentum as he went to the rim and drew a foul. On the next possession, Trenton drew the defense, now off balance, and found Isaiah open on the block for a lay up. The Badgers held CDS scoreless for the last three minutes of the first quarter - Elias was a force on the block when Ryan and Aven defended the top of the key. In the second quarter, sensing a need for a scoring push, Kai got open from the left wing and let it fly. With a beautiful follow through, Kai's shot tickled the twine. Working closely with Jayceon, who had a game high 17, the Badgers scored 7 in the second quarter.
In third period, Bo and Eli added another element, spacing the floor and providing additional offense for our guards. Will took some quality shots from the baseline, and Robert chased down his defensive assignment. Tandem had our highest scoring output in the third, including seven each from Trenton and Jayceon.

Hatcher, Landon and Gabriel were a defensive presence in the final period.

Special thanks to Coach Gordon for stepping in short notice! Fun to have you on the sidelines!

MS Girls Basketball

With the ball on the baseline, CDS desperately tried to find an open guard. She would take a few dribbles, and either travel or throw a long pass that was intercepted by Zuri or deflected by Raquel. The Badgers first quarter defense was relentless, holding CDS to only one basket, tied 2-2.

After spending much of last week in foul trouble, Hadley was able to be in attack mode. She finished with nine, and got to the rim in the second, also scoring a deep three, keeping the Badgers in a tight game! As CDS began to tighten their defense on Hadley, Sam brought the ball up the court and set up her teammates! She continues to be solid at the point!

The Badgers entered the second half trailing by 5, and Sam began to show off her decision-making
skills. She got the ball inside to Zuri, who scored and earned four trips to the line. Hattie was incredible defensively, forcing a five second call with incredible coverage on the block, and also diving on the floor to tie up her opponent. Cora got going as a rebounder, boxing out her opponent and taking the ball away. Alex was perfectly positioned on the block!

Cypress took over as an inbounds passer, finding Hadley who drove to the basket to create scoring opportunities. When she was trapped, she got the ball ahead to Zoey, who continues to contribute in a number of ways. Zoe helped bring the ball up the court, attacked the basket relentlessly, and had two assists this afternoon. Her on the ball coverage was a big part of why our press was so effective!

I am proud of the way we defended without fouling and played with an enormous amount of effort - diving on the floor for loose balls and truly giving 100% throughout the game! What an effort!
